I am out to challenge, not wreck. Literature has always been my thing. I want to see more backing for the “upandcomers” and urban culture in general. Let’s see some new faces! The best thing about art is when the audience gets involved. Good art leaves you with images and emotions, with wherewithal for the future. During the festival, I love just wandering around, taking it all in.

No way would I miss out on the opportunity to hear a 1690 Stradivarius played by an exciting, young musician. There is so much Finnish jazz and rock out there, but we shouldn’t forget about the classical either.

My work used to take me to the UAE a lot, where the calls to prayer would always wake me up in the mornings. It never occurred to me that they could be recordings. For me, the adhans along with the mosques are at the very heart of Islamic culture. What is it like for a muezzin facing redundancy?

I am always curious to see stage versions of classics to find out what new insights have been unearthed. Kafka’s genius lies in his ability to pick themes that resonate through the decades. What is power and who wields it? Can power lie hidden in our concepts and narratives?
